Up, Up and Away!

Hello! I was blessed with a rare opportunity to experience a flying experience thanks to RedRibbon Days! Here, we pride ourselves with offering outstanding service and exciting, rare experiences. Some, quite unimaginable.

I have only joined the RedRibbon Days family for about 4 months and I was already offered to try out the Tandem Paragliding experience in Bukit Jugra. First things first, I am pretty afraid of heights so this was actually a real challenge for me. I mean, we only live once right? So why not? :)
I was joined by two fellow colleagues on that day and we left for Bukit Jugra early in the morning just so that we don't miss the perfect weather and wind for this experience. It was about a 2 hours car ride from KL city to the destination. Not too long of a ride when the surroundings were truly scenic :)
As we arrived, we were greeted by the Colonel/Lieutenant and he started giving the briefing on the do's and don'ts while Paragliding. My fellow colleague, Keith went for it first and it looked like a breeze! He took off so easily off the ground with the Colonel right behind him. The wind took him so far away from where he started and he was so high above the ground. We could hear the excitement from where we were standing having him go "WOOHOOOOOO!"

That gave me so much comfort and it instantly gave me that much more bravery to go through with this. I figured this would be a good story to tell my children one day? :) At last! It was my turn :S The Colonel strapped me up along with the helmet and I was all set to fly! There were a few awkward moments before we took off because we were trying to get the wind to go under the parachute so that we would take off and it didn't help that I was falling all over the place. I'm clumsy, I know :( After a few minutes trying to sort things out, we ran a little to gain momentum and took off and it was the best feeling everrr! It's really difficult for me to explain it here because you would actually have to try it out for yourself if you want to know.

I actually had a camera strapped on my helmet so you could see the first person POV from the height I was at and the scenery was a beaut! I didn't have to do anything because the flying instructor was doing all the work (controlling the parachute) right behind me. It was then time to land and the instructor told me to gain a running momentum so that we may land gracefully but unfortunately it was raining the day before so I got sucked into the paddy field instead  :( It was really gross but everything was worth it because I got to FLY!

I was a proud child :D
So, I really encourage you guys to try this out. It is completely safe and super fun!

Until the next time :)

*will post piccas up soon!
